1. What is fasting? 

Fasting is the intentional denial of food for yourself as a way of  denying your earthen vessel (your body) to realign your desires  with that of your spirit.  


2. Why do we fast?

We fast in order to allow our spirit to regain control of our desires, rather than our desires controlling us. We fast for our own benefit so that we have an easier time realizing how loved by God we truly are! We DO NOT fast to earn God’s love or as a way to get what we want out of God.  


3. Are there different types of fasting options? 

Yes! There are many different ways to fast. Here are some examples.   


Skipping one meal a day  

Not eating after 5pm  

Daniel Fast  

Not eating two days a week


There is no correct method of fasting, and some methods may not work for you and your daily life. Pray about the right fasting method for you, and we encourage you to discuss your fasting options with your doctor if you have any medical concerns. 


4. What is the Daniel Fast? The Daniel Fast is the fast that was done by the Old Testament Prophet, Daniel. It is essentially a vegan diet, being entirely plant based, with a few added restrictions, such as no added sugar, breads made with yeast, and processed foods. Water is the only allowed beverage.
